Changes to Employment Conditions

From time to time, it may be necessary to amend a contract of employment to include new arrangements. The amendment may be suggested by either the employer or employee but needs to be agreed by both, with exception of certain amendments that are a result of certain actions, for example;

If you breach your contract or you are subject to a disciplinary procedure, it may result in your contract being changed to accommodate for a pay cut or demotion.

Contracts could also be changed for other, more 'standard' reasons, including;

  • The place of work may change as a result of the business relocating
  • Working Hours may change as a result of the business expanding and reducing in size
  • The role itself may change as the business does, diversification may open opportunities to learn new skills or take on leadership duties.
  • Rates of Pay may increase
  • Holiday entitlement may change

Such changes do not need to be declared in writing, but if they make the Statement of Particulars invalid, a written declaration of changes to that document should be issued within one month of the change being effective.
